The SW9TM Mechanical Flange Spreader is capable of generating 9 tons of spreading force.  Excellent spreader for all flanges with a .24 inch gap.

Two(2) SWi2025TE Flange spreaders and an external hydraulic pump can produce up to 50 tons of spreading force along with a spreading distance of up to 4 inches when both step blocks are utilized. This separating force will spread most flanges safely and easily. Requires a .024 inch gap.

The SWi2025TE hydraulic flange spreader features an interlocking spreading wedge, design with user safety in mind. This design produces a smooth, parallel, wedge movement creating a force perpendicular to the flange faces being separated eliminating unsafe working conditions, flange damage and spreading wedge failure. (See il. 1 below)
  • The unique interlocking wedge design features no first step bending or risk of slipping out of the flange joint
  • This unique design requires a very small access gap of only .24 in. (6 mm) and is capable of producing a gap of up to 4.1" when using both step blocks.
  • A total of 20 tons of force is available at the first step with 25 tons on each step therafter. Two hydraulic flange spreaders can create 50 tons of spreading force.
  • Few moving parts means durability and minimal tool maintenance.  Any maintenance is simple and easy to perform on this flange spreader.
  • A special coating is applied to reduce slippage, further increasing worker safety.
  • No forces are created that would propel the spreading wedge from the flange like a typical hammered wedge. see il. 2
  • A solid sliding wedge between the flange speedier jaws eliminates jaw breakage and the potential of flanges slaming together causing worker harm or equipment damage.
If the flange you are working on does not have a 0.24" (6 mm) gap, consider using a Secure Grip flange spreader. If this is not an option, use the MG7TM flange spreader to create the necessary 0.24" gap.

Hammered wedge creates an unsafe condition

This drawing illustrates how forces are applied with a standard wedge. The downward force from the wedge is transmitted in a angular motion to the flange faces. This produces a reverse force that trys to propel the wedge back out of the flange creating an unsafe . This type of wedge will also cause damage to flange face.

The SWi2025TE Hydraulic Flange Spreader is a small, unique, durable tool and is an excellent choice for use on most flanges with an access gap of 0.24 inches.

Using the Equalizer SWi2025TE Integral Hydraulic Flange Spreader the maximum spreading capacity is 4.07" with both stepped blocks attached.

A problem may occur when using a SWi2025TE Flange Spreader on a flange with a larger gap, for example when removing a blind, valve, or large gasket.  The wedge may protrude far enough to hit the blind, gasket, or other object as illustrated below.
